Presidential Aide, Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues and Water Resources Ruslan Edelgeriyev chaired the 45th meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
The meeting participants discussed updates from the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Foreign Ministry regarding preparations for the participation of Russian delegations in the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (November 9–20, 2026, Antalya, Turkiye), the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in the Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa (August 17–28, 2026, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), and the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (October 18–30, 2026, Yerevan, Armenia).
They also discussed the need to organise Russian pavilions at these conferences and involve federal executive officials, scientists, and businesspeople in this effort. These pavilions will showcase Russian scientific achievements and technologies in combating desertification and land degradation, preserving biodiversity, and climate projects and initiatives.
