The President instructed Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Tatyana Golikova and Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Sergei Shoigu to provide humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan, medications in the first place.
The Russian leader also issued instructions to assist in the evacuation of the injured, and for this purpose the Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief will send a special IL-76 airplane to Kyrgyzstan fitted to transport critically ill or injured patients. It will also have a medical team on board.
In addition, as Chairman of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), President Medvedev gave directions to hold consultations of secretaries of security councils of the CSTO member states in the nearest future to come up with joint response measures.
The Russian leader also had a series of meetings devoted to the situation in Kyrgyzstan with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha.
Dmitry Medvedev receives detailed briefings on the crisis in Kyrgyzstan and is aware of communications being addressed to him. Nevertheless, at the moment Russia does not intend to send any peacekeepers to Kyrgyzstan to participate in settling the situation in Osh.
To date, a total of 69 people have been killed, nearly a thousand injured and over 500 hospitalised as a result of ethnic clashes in the Kyrgyz city of Osh.
