Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the international multi-sport event, Winter Paralympic Games, “We are together. Sport.”
The message reads, in part:
“It is important that these large-scale competitions are becoming traditional, and this year Yugra is welcoming athletes from many regions of the country and foreign states for the third time. This gives them a wonderful opportunity to meet with notable rivals and demonstrate their skill, teamwork, and a winning spirit.
I would like to emphasise that we are sincerely proud of our Paralympic athletes. You achieve truly outstanding personal results. Moreover, through your example you are helping others believe in themselves, in their power and abilities, and you inspire them to achieve new accomplishments.
I am confident that the Winter Paralympic Games “We are together. Sport” will take place at a high organisational and creative level, in the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding.”
