Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to faculty, students, post-graduates and alumni of the St Petersburg Mining University on its 250th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“Congratulations on the 250th anniversary of the St Petersburg Mining University, Russia’s first technical tertiary education institution.
Its faculty, students, post-graduates and alumni take special pride in the great history of their alma mater and its traditions of excellence, which have been passed on from one generation to another. Since its founding, the university has produced an outstanding cohort of prominent scientists, researchers and specialists who have made an immense contribution to developing the mining, the oil and gas, and the energy sectors, as well as other strategic sectors of the Russian economy.
I am certain that building on its outstanding research capabilities and the latest education technology and methods, the St Petersburg Mining University will further reinforce its leadership and prestige.”
