Governor of the Saratov Region Roman Busargin briefed the President on the socioeconomic situation in the region. Particular attention was paid to measures supporting participants in the special military operation and their families.
At the beginning of his report, Roman Busargin spoke about the regional support measures in place for participants in the special military operation. In total, 37 regional-level support measures are currently in effect. Alongside the Time of Heroes federal initiative, the Saratov Region has implemented the Our Heroes programme, which enables participants in the special military operation to receive education for subsequent employment in regional and municipal government bodies. Additionally, the region has established the first regional museum dedicated to the special military operation, along with 463 school museums commemorating it.
The Saratov Region is among nine regions of the Russian Federation included in a project to modernise the tram network. Four routes, spanning 67 kilometres, have been incorporated into the Government’s project, implemented in collaboration with VEB.RF. Thanks to federal assistance, rolling stock is being renewed: 34 new trams have already been deployed on these routes.
Roman Busargin also reported on the revival of river transport services. With federal support, Valdai vessels have been purchased. This year, plans are in place to transport 12,000 passengers.
A medical cluster is being developed in the Saratov Region. At the end of last year, a clinical oncology centre, a regional clinical tuberculosis dispensary, and a wing of the regional children’s clinical hospital were opened, while the regional infectious diseases hospital is operating at full capacity. Thanks to the national healthcare project, the primary healthcare modernisation programme, the construction of outpatient clinics, and the acquisition of medical equipment, the region has seen a decline in mortality rates.
Furthermore, the governor provided an update on housing construction and the implementation of the programme to relocate residents from dilapidated housing. Over two years, 230,000 square metres of housing have been cleared, affecting 13,000 people. New apartment buildings are being constructed on the sites of dilapidated housing as part of comprehensive urban development projects. Last year, 1.15 million square metres of housing were constructed in the Saratov Region, with plans to deliver 1.25 million square metres this year.
Agriculture in the Saratov Region remains robust. Despite frosts, the region has maintained its sixth-place ranking nationally in gross grain harvest and first place in sunflower seed production.
