Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Federal Law On Environmental Protection and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law provides for creating a federal state information system on the condition of the environment, for the purposes of providing government bodies, local governments, organisations and the public at large with information on the current condition of the environment, collecting, processing and analysing such information, as well as evaluating the condition of the environment and forecasting changes.
The information system will include data on the current condition of the environment, contamination factors, radiological data, stationary sources, the level and/or amount of emissions and discharge of pollutants, information on production and consumption waste management and other data.
The Government of the Russian Federation will determine the process of developing, operating and upgrading the information system, the types and contents of data uploaded into the system, access control procedure and other requirements.
