Expanded meeting of the Federal Taxation Service Board

November 20, 2015, Moscow

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov took part in an expanded meeting of the Federal Taxation Service Board.

This year marks the Russian Taxation Service’s 25th anniversary. The Federal Taxation Service held an expanded meeting on the eve of the tax service workers’ professional holiday, Tax Authority Workers’ Day, which is marked on November 21, to discuss the service’s results and its tasks ahead.

In his remarks at the meeting, Mr Ivanov called on the service to continue improving its work methods and look for new forms of working with taxpayers. The service needs to continue expanding the use of modern information technology and tax administration methods in its work with taxpayers. “There is no question that this will have a positive impact on the business climate in Russia, help to develop a healthy competitive environment, and allow honest Russian and foreign taxpayers to feel more comfortable within our legal framework,” Mr Ivanov said.

Mr Ivanov noted that cooperation between the different agencies must become more effective. This work aims to prevent and detect tax crimes and money laundering, and this requires continued exchange of analytical information, including information on assessment of existing and potential risks in the tax area.

Mr Ivanov said that the service continues to play an essential role in timely, proper and full collection of tax revenue into the budgets at all levels and carries out a number of other important functions. Mr Ivanov noted too that the overall number of away inspections carried out by the Taxation Service has fallen, but each inspection carried out is now more effective in its results.

Mr Ivanov also read out a message of congratulations from the President on the tax authority workers’ professional holiday.

Participants in the meeting included Head of the Federal Taxation Service Mikhail Mishustin, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Chairperson of the Accounts Chamber Tatyana Golikova, Governor of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin, and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budgeting and Taxation Andrei Makarov.
