On July14-20, the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights made a working trip to three regions in the Far East: the Sakhalin and Magadan regions, and the Kamchatka Territory. The Children’s Rights Commissioner and the regional heads agreed on new joint projects focused on childhood.
In each region, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights met with the head of corresponding constituent entity of the Russian Federation and held meetings with heads of regional executive authorities supervising childhood and social institutions. Maria Lvova-Belova offered methodological support from the Commissioner’s office on matters related to protecting children’s rights and their legitimate interests.
Ahead of Maria Lvova-Belova’s trip to the Russian Far East, lawyers from the Commissioner’s office conducted inspections of social institutions, including those for orphaned children, parentless children and children with disabilities in all three regions. Based on their findings, the Children’s Rights Commissioner proposed projects to the heads of the regions aimed at improving the quality of children’s lives.
