The Coordinating Committee of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives has approved a list of winning projects in the first contest of 2023 for grants to implement projects in culture, arts and creative industries.
An application process for the first contest took place from October 20 to November 17, 2022. During this period, a total of 8,793 applications were submitted to the Foundation.
The grants will be provided to 881 creative projects from 83 Russian regions. The projects will be implemented in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the liberated territories. In total, the amount of support provided will be worth 3,695,486,371 rubles. The winners intend to attract 3,721,197,335 rubles as their own contribution. For the first time in the history of the contest, the co-financing for projects will exceed the amount of the allocated grants: the average level of contribution by the authors and their partners will amount to 101 percent.
Historical and cultural dates of great importance for Russia were traditionally reflected in the applications. Also, a great deal of attention was paid to involving residents of new territories in the overall historical and cultural space of the country and holding various events in these regions: support worth a total of 723 million rubles will be provided to 125 projects directly or indirectly connected with the liberated territories.
The Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives has held eight contests since its establishment in June 2021. More than a 100,000 project teams have been registered in the foundation’s database. Following the selection process, 4,945 projects in culture, arts and creative industries received support worth over 15.5 billion rubles in total.
