Meeting of State Council Commission on Science

Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrei Travnikov chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Science.

The meeting was attended by Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Liliya Gumerova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Denis Sekirinsky, representatives of federal and regional executive authorities, the scientific and expert community, development institutions, and business. Among the topics considered was the implementation of the Plan for the Decade of Science and Technology in Russian regions, as well as expanding the practice of offering investment tax deductions for contribution to education and science to the regions.

In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin drew the attention of the Commission to its further work to implement Presidential instructions on creating an annual national ranking of scientific and technological development of the Russian regions, support and development of research activities and young scientists in the regions.

Andrei Travnikov presented the Commission’s work plan for 2024, under which the Commission together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will continue to implement a set of Presidential instructions on analysing and sharing the experience in the implementation of complex programmes for scientific and technological development of the regions, support for science and training of scientific and academic and teaching staff to work in the economic and social spheres in the regions, the development of world-class science and education centres.

During the meeting, its participants exchanged opinions on current issues and discussed proposals for involving regions in the implementation of the Plan for the Decade of Science and Technology, as well as the possibility of expanding the practice of offering investment tax deductions to organisations investing in science and education.
