The discussion focused on the role and authority of sports federations and associations, their contribution to the system of physical culture and sports in Russia, and proposals for improving the quality and efficiency of their activities.
Presidential Aide, Deputy Chair of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the interdepartmental commission for the Council’s interaction with nongovernmental organisations.
In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that nongovernmental organisations played an important role in sports and it was necessary to improve the mechanisms of funding the sports federations’ activities, considering their comprehensive contribution to the development of this sphere, as well as their potential for development.
Main reports were delivered by First Deputy Minister of Sports Azat Kadyrov and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov. The meeting was attended by Council members and representatives of federal executive authorities and public organisations.
Following the commission’s work, proposals will be worked out to be included in the report for the next meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports.
