Aide to the President, Special Presidential Representative for Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev chaired the second meeting of an expert group on biodiversity issues and participation in the Convention on Biological Diversity. The group is affiliated with an interdepartmental working group of the Presidential Executive Office.

The meeting participants reviewed issues of charting the Russian Federation’s position on the Cali Fund of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Russian Federation’s work on issues of representing the country’s small indigenous nations in the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Members of the expert group reported on subsequent steps needed to provide organisational and financial support for experts in order to facilitate scientific backing and the participation of experts in the work between sessions and in meetings of international organisations and conventions.
