The Central Museum of Russian Cossacks, established as part of the State Historical Museum in accordance with the President’s instructions, was officially opened.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Presidential Aide, Chair of the Council for Cossack Affairs Dmitry Mironov noted, in particular, “Today marks a major and long-awaited event. A long-held dream to open a museum in the heart of the capital, where exhibits showcase the glorious role of Cossacks in Russia’s history, was achieved.” He expressed confidence that the museum would become a new focal point for Russian Cossacks and serve to unite them.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Chair of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Implementation of the Russian Federation State Policy Strategy Regarding Russian Cossacks for 2021–2030 Tatyana Golikova, Presidential Aide, Chair of the Interdepartmental Commission on Historical Education Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Military Historical Society Sergei Ivanov, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society Vitaly Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Synodal Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church for Cooperation with Cossacks Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, members of the Council for Cossack Affairs, representatives of federal government bodies, Cossack military societies, and national Cossack associations, and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church.
