Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants and guests of the forum Stars of University Sports and congratulated its laureates.
The message reads, in part:
”In our country, university sport has a rich history and wonderful traditions. The emblem of the renowned Burevestnik Society, which will still be awarded to the winners of the categories today, was proudly worn by the winners of prestigious national and international competitions in the past.
This event is special: it is being held on the 100th anniversary of establishing the government agency on physical fitness and sport and the 30th anniversary of the Russian Student Sports Union. Over this time, this reputable organisation has made a huge contribution to the development of the student sports movement, has done a lot to increase the accessibility of physical fitness, to attract young people to an active, healthy lifestyle. And of course, with much support from the Russian Student Sports Union, Russia held major international competitions and tournaments at a proper organisational and creative level.“
