Vladimir Putin congratulated residents of the Magadan Region on the 70th anniversary of its establishment.
The message reads, in part:
“Many generations of people living in Kolyma have made a significant contribution to exploring its unique natural resources, strengthening the economy, and creating social, energy, and transport infrastructure. And, of course, we will always remember the courage and endurance of the people of Magadan during the Great Patriotic War. In 2021, the capital of the region was awarded the City of Labour Valour honorary title as an expression of profound, immeasurable gratitude to the home front workers.
Today the Magadan Region holds enormous potential for development and offers excellent opportunities for major investment. Therefore, it is good to see large projects being implemented here in the mining industry and the agricultural complex in recent years, alongside the construction of new schools, hospitals, cultural, sports and recreation centres. Substantial efforts are underway to preserve the rich traditions and customs of the people who have inhabited this land since ancient times.
I am confident that your initiative, determination, and genuine love for your homeland will continue to guide you in your work, addressing major tasks for the benefit of the Magadan Region and all of Russia.”
