September 13, 2025, Moscow

Vladimir Putin attended the opening of the National Space Centre, established on the premises of the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Centre.

The construction of the National Space Centre (NSC) began in 2019 as a joint project of the Government of Moscow and the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities. The NSC will unite key entities of the rocket and space industry, including the central office and the situation centre of the Roscosmos State Corporation, as well as research institutes, design bureaus and enterprises.

During his visit to the centre, the President toured an exhibition of space vehicles including models of the Lunokhod 2 self-propelled laboratory, the Venera 7 automated interplanetary station, and the re-entry module of the Soyuz-MS-25 spaceship.

The Mission Control Centre operating at the NSC has already conducted a communication session with Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Alexei Zubritsky and Oleg Platonov, currently working at the International Space Station.

The opening of the National Space Centre was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Roscosmos State Corporation General Director Dmitry Bakanov, heads of space missile industry enterprises as well as cosmonauts Sergei Krikalev and Oleg Kononenko.
