Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants and guests of the 13th Twin Cities Forum and the 2nd Russia-Belarus Youth Meeting, currently taking place in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region.
The message reads, in part:
“It is symbolic that these events are dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a crucially important event in our shared history. Russians and Belarusians hold sacred the memory of the glorious deeds of our fathers and grandfathers, who, fighting shoulder to shoulder at the front and in partisan detachments, crushed the Nazi invaders at the cost of incredible sacrifices and hardships.
Today, the bonds of friendship, camaraderie, and mutual assistance forged during that harsh wartime help our peoples develop mutually beneficial cooperation and work together to build the Union State, strengthen our common defence potential, and defend our legitimate interests in the international arena.
The twin city ties that unite dozens of cities in our countries and the partnerships established between youth organisations are undoubtedly important components of the allied Russian-Belarusian relations. Regular contacts through these public diplomacy channels provide opportunities to develop and implement useful joint projects in the social, scientific, and humanitarian spheres.
I am confident that your communication will be substantive and constructive, and that the ideas and initiatives you put forward will serve to further strengthen the friendly ties between our countries and peoples.”
