Vladimir Putin arrives in Bishkek

The President of Russia arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic on a state visit. He will also take part in a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation.

At the plane ramp, Vladimir Putin was welcomed by President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. The national flags of the two countries were raised on the airfield, a guard of honour assembled, and a ceremonial fanfare performed.

As part of the welcoming ceremony, national dances were presented, along with demonstrations of traditional Kyrgyz hunting techniques using golden eagles and hounds. At Manas Airport, a folklore and ethnographic ensemble performed a brief musical programme.

During the state visit, the President of Russia will hold talks with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to discuss further development of the strategic partnership and allied relationship between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in various areas. A joint statement by the heads of state, as well as a number of intergovernmental and business agreements have been prepared for signing.

The session of the CSTO Collective Security Council will serve to summarise the results of cooperation within the organisation this year and outline key areas for improving the system of collective security. Vladimir Putin will brief his colleagues on the priorities for Russia's CSTO chairmanship in 2026.
