Meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

November 11, 2025, The Kremlin, Moscow

A meeting was held in the Kremlin between Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is on a two-day state visit to Russia.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Tokayev, good afternoon.

First of all, I would like to thank you for finding the time to come, as agreed, on an official state visit. I am sincerely pleased by this.

Naturally, we remain in constant contact, but such protocol matters also carry weight in interstate relations. Today, we will have an opportunity to meet in an informal setting and discuss all issues of particular interest. Tomorrow, together with our colleagues, we will address the full agenda of our bilateral relations and, undoubtedly, consider future prospects.

Overall, I believe we will conclude this year very successfully and lay out plans for the near, medium, and longer term.

I am very glad to see you. Welcome!

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Thank you, Mr Putin.

I, too, am genuinely pleased to see you and would first like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptionally warm reception. Literally from the very first moments in Moscow, on this sacred land – as has been noted regarding the protocol, from this perspective, – I have been profoundly moved and delighted by what I have seen and felt, and have sensed the full warmth of the welcome here in the Russian capital.

As for our bilateral cooperation, it is characterised by strategic partnership and allied relations. There is not a single area where we do not interact or work together. No serious problems exist between our states, and should any arise – which is natural – they are resolved through the efforts, first and foremost, of the heads of state and, of course, our governments.

I was very pleased to accept your invitation. Indeed, today, in an informal setting and atmosphere, we can exchange views. I have a number of observations and thoughts that I would gladly share with you, as a senior colleague.

Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much.

Our meeting will have two parts. For now, we will continue our conversation informally, after which I would like to invite you to my residence, where we can continue our discussions over tea or coffee.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Excellent.

Vladimir Putin: Thank you.
