The subjects of the Thursday meeting were prospects for innovative development of the pharmaceuticals and medical industries, government regulation of medications retail prices, and ways to substitute imported medicines with domestic products.

Following the June 19, 2010 meeting of the Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of Russia's Economy, the Government of Russia was instructed to encourage foreign investments into the production of pharmaceuticals, computer hardware, medical, telecommunications, energy and energy-saving equipment, and other high-tech products in Russia.

While reviewing the preparations for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, the President visited a new hospital, which is being built in line with IOC recommendations, and the city airport, which has commissioned its second runway.

Ms Golikova reported to the President on the Ministry’s work in 2010 in such areas as support of mothers and children, development of high-tech medical care for children, and pension coverage. 

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law On Charity Activity and Charitable Organisations and Article 7 of the Federal Law On Insurance Contributions to the Russian Federation Pension Fund, Russian Federation Social Insurance Fund, Federal Compulsory Health Insurance Fund, and Regional Compulsory Health Insurance Funds.
