April 11, 2024

Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Governor of the Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass Sergei Tsivilev chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Energy.

Also taking part in the meeting were Head of the Republic of Khakassia – Prime Minister of the Republic of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov, Head of the Republic of Tyva Vladislav Khovalyg, department heads of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of relevant federal and regional executive bodies, as well as members of the academic community and organisations of the fuel and energy sector.

The meeting participants discussed proposals within the energy sector for potential inclusion in new national projects focused on technological sovereignty. They also examined the current state of affairs in the coal industry.

In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that proposals for new national projects should be aligned with the strategic goals outlined by the President in his Address to the Federal Assembly. He underscored the need for cohesive collaboration among relevant ministries and the State Council Commission on Energy to adopt an integrated approach and incorporate input from regions in shaping national projects related to emerging energy technologies.

Department heads from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided updates on their ongoing efforts to develop new national projects focused on technological sovereignty. Representatives of regional executive bodies, research institutions, and businesses presented their recommendations for advancing new energy technologies.

Addressing the second item on the agenda, Sergei Tsivilev highlighted the challenges faced by the coal industry. He cited factors such as declining global coal prices, limitations on coal export via rail, and shifts in customs regulations, all of which adversely affect the budgets of coal-producing regions. Sergei Tsivilev proposed a series of measures aimed at improving the situation.

The proposals approved during the meeting will be forwarded to the relevant federal executive bodies for further consideration.
